There is no single definition for creativity and not even a “theory” of it, but we can consider it from different perspectives: our approach is to see it in ordinary life (and not as the expression of a “genius” or “exceptional minds”), and focus on its strict relationship with the language. In fact, creativity is an essential element in language (divergent thinking, ambiguity, unpredictability, spatial-temporal dimension, etc.), and language learning and creativity have a common basis as they come true when there is curiosity, committment and experimentation. So, keeping in mind the difference between big C and little c creativity (in the former case attention is paid to the results and products of creative work, while in the latter the process of construction and linguistic communication inside a class is mainly highlighted), the language teacher can stimulate students’ creativity through interesting and motivating activities.
